Based on the professional and legal advice of PNA Manila, the group headed by Margie Nessl, then, formed the “Verband philippinischer diplomierter Gesundheits- und Krankenpflegender – Österreich” in October 2001. The "Philippine Nurses Association – Austria" derived its name from PNA Manila as recommended, since PNA-A is now an accredited foreign chapter of PNA, Manila. PNA-A is officially established in November 2001 in accordance with the registration in the “Vereinspolizei”. The first president, Angelino Asuncion, together with the committed officers and active members established the position of the association in the community. The main ojective of PNA-Austria is to promote professional growth towards the attainment of highest standards of nursing and to create a vision of an empowered professional association responsive and committed to health care and development for the well-being of nurses and the society. PNA-Austria which comprises all nurses of Filipino origin, is a non-profit, non-partisan and non-religious organization. The Association aims to reach all Filipino nurses working within the Republic of Austria. Now, PNA-Austria pledged to serve and protect the interests of all members for the upliftment of the organization.
